So these are all books that you've read Leslie? "Mr Blandings" jumped out at me because it's one of my favourite Cary Grant films. I will have to look up the book.

Hi Hariklia: These are books I plan on reading or have read but want to blog about. The ones with links I have read recently. The 1940s list was tough to create ... Many more interesting Books written in the 1950s.

I, too, love the Cary Grant Mr. Blandings movie and want to see how the book measures up. Remember Myrna Loy describing the robins egg blue paint she wants?

I like grouping books together by decade. We learn so much that way about the overall themes of the times. The 1970s was all horror ... Stepford Wives, Salems Lot, the Other, the Exorcist. Why was that, do you think? Not my favorite genre at all, but the concerns must be found int the stories.

Nice idea, grouping by decade. I do remember a previous post with a 1950s list, but couldn't remember if you'd read them all.

Yes, Myrna Loy and her elaborate colour descriptions, then the painter says something like, white, blue, yellow...very funny!
